Course Review – Majestic Springs
MAJESTIC SPRINGS COURSE REVIEW
Majestic Spring Golf Course was rated #9 by Golf Advisor in Ohio and I must say I really enjoyed my round there recently. From booking a tee time to checking in to teeing off, everything went smooth and all the folks working at the course were friendly and helpful. Dave Stanton is the head professional and he greeted us when we arrived. As always, had a big smile and a few words of encouragement. We were a twosome and no surprise we were paired with another twosome on a busy Sunday afternoon. You know how this goes, sometimes it’s great and sometimes, well, ya just gotta play your own game. This time was one of those great experiences as Kevin and Ray kept us laughing the whole time!
The course was in great shape. The fairways were well maintained and the greens ran fast and true. Which actually surprised us. The area had received a fair amount of rain the night before and we anticipated a slow roll on the greens. Didn’t happen. While they held our approach shots very well, judging speed was every bit as important as judging the line lest you have a longer than anticipated putt back on those near misses. It’s also obvious that a lot of maintenance has been taking place throughout the course. That’s always nice to see and leads me to anticipate an even better experience the next time I play this course. From recent paving on some of the cart paths to new bridges over the creek, it’s obvious the owners are putting money back into the course to make your golfing experience that much better.
As I said, it was a fairly busy Sunday afternoon but the pace of play was excellent. Four hours to play 18 works for me. It was a little backed up to start and then things worked themselves out naturally. When we made the turn, we were back to just two of us. The group in front of us let us play through and the back 9 were clear sailing.
In addition to the course being well maintained, the pro shop is very nice and the prices for snacks, soda and water are very fair. Clean restrooms, well stocked coolers and friendly staff can make the difference when you are visiting a course for the first time.
We booked a 2-26 PM tee time at a rate of $21 for 18 with a cart. You can’t beat that for a decent track! It was about a 40-minute drive for us to get there and I will say it was worth it.
If you get a chance, book a tee time at Majestic Springs I think you will enjoy it
